The article is related to the resale market of the sneakers. As a matter of fact, from the article, it can be seen that there are people who have the strong interests towards the new sneakers, and they would pay high prices for the limited edition that they like. According to the data in the article, it is estimated that the secondary market for the sneakers is the worth of more than 1 billion pounds. There are many collectors of sneakers, who would pay high prices for the specially and limited versions, and that is a social trend that will influence the operation of the sneaker’s producers. To be more specific, this issue is related to the social factor in the PESTEL model. It shows that there is the social trend toward the collection of the sneakersproducts, and people have the strong interests and demands. For the sneakers collectors, they are often the rich people and fashion fans, and they do not wear and use thesneakers, but treat them as the valuable items. This social trend will have a positive influence on the operation of the brand, due to the reason that it shows that there is the demand, and the demand is quite insensitive to the price. The large value of the secondary market for the sneakersshows that people can easily sell and trade the sneakers, and that has made the sneakers more valuable and more attractive in the market. This social trend would be beneficial for the sales of the products.

Reflective report on photography exercise(112)

In this blog, my aunt showed me that she is more satisfied with the clothing. however,I will discuss the shape and outline of her clothing.

In the photo, my aunt is wearing a white turtleneck sweater, which is a close-fitting design, so the proportion of the figure is more obvious, The lower body is paired with a white pleated long skirt with a dark blue pattern, now trending Dior-Saddle bag ,calfskin leather , wearing white designer shoes-guidi,her overall style is elegant and classic.

My aunt thinks that her favorite is this special cotton skirt, because of its complicated craftsmanship, it needs to be customized with patterns. The patterns are suitable for spring and summer coconut trees, the pigments are also made of natural plant pigment-indigo.Finished, washed again, and finally dried and shipped.

In my opinion dresses or skirts that have been trending reflect the trend of elegant and classic style.A good example Chanel, under the direction of Karl Lagerfeld, is viewed as the only fashion house to have remained fresh after one hundred years(Vinken et al.,2005).Since its establishment in 1910, Chanel has been relying on her elegant temperament of high-definition women’s clothing to become a standing women’s brand under the trend.

All in all, compared with ordinary brands of luxury brands, not only are they guaranteed in quality, but also the selection of fabrics and technological processes are relatively strict, they have also led the trend of the times.

Reflective Trend Blog(112)

In this blog, I define the term trend, analyse and evaluate my sources. The term trend and fashion have been used interchangeably in various studies, but this blog will mainly focus on the concept of trend.

Generally, a trend in fashion management is defined as aspecific style or clothing during a particular period (Dillon, 2011). They are phenomena that focus on style and taste (Kim et al., 2013). Campos and Wolf (2018) contend that trends are attributed to the convergence of tastes and desires which are characterized by various durations and modifications. The study also acknowledged that in spite of prompt renewals responding directly to the interests of the fashion industry, all trends entail two spheres: commercial economic sphere and arbitrary cultural sphere.

From the two studies, a trend can be conceptualized as an inclination towards someone, a situation or something that can likely occur in future. As an attractive force, trend tends to get to people and attract them in engaging in following what takes place in the fashion industry, through the concept of futurology which often suggests that such a situation could occur in the future. Barnes (2013) supports this argument by stating that a trend is an evolution of practices.

Thus, trends in fashion encompass changes in people’s taste for clothing and apparel due to the influence of spiritual, intellectual, cultural and emotional desires. From the studies analyzed, it can be deduced that a trend is a social process that entails consistent change in tastes or styles in everyday life, including behavior, dress, and food. This is particularly true of fashion trends that are believed to be fads since they last for only a few seasons. More importantly, all trends tend to have some form of cultural background and depict changes in the mindset and behavior of the society.

Reflective report on visual theming workshop(112)

In this blog I will analyse why I chose the word “sculptured”, and this word caused me to think.

The word I chose is “sculptured”, and sculpture itself is a permanent art with respect to perpetuity. The reason why I chose this word is that on the one hand, I have been to art museums in many places since high school. What shocked me is the ingenuity of the carving artist. Every sculpture is very complicated in detail, and on the other hand, different cultural backgrounds and meanings, it also represents different humanities.

All in all, the carving art not only takes a very long time, but also has high technical and experience requirements for the carving artist. Even the details must be clearly visible, delicate and smooth, in addition to carving it also has all aspects of our lives. For example, cosmetic surgeons have drawn inspiration from the world of engraving artists and used them in aesthetics and reconstruction surgery (Tolleth,1987)Engraving also affects our technology. A good embodiment is 3D printing technology, which combines the combination of engraving technology and computer The application in architecture has also brought many conveniences to human beings. 3D printers can assist in the design to quickly generate complex geometric models(Hager et al.,2016).helping companies reshape design and industrial manufacturing in new ways.

All Saints brand analysis(112)

In this blog, I mainly focus on the retrospective report on store observation. I will describe my experience and findings of this market observation, and bring my thoughts and reflections.

AllSaints was founded by Stuart Trevor and Kaint Bolongaro in 1994. AllSaints was originally a brand that provided menswear wholesale to some high-end retailers in the UK, such as Nichols and harrods. Later, AllSaints continued to expand its stores worldwide, starting in 2009, Many stores have been opened throughout the United States, including New York, Boston, San Francisco, etc. Until 2010, the cost of North American expansion reached 43 million pounds. AllSaints has a huge market overseas and has more than 3,000 employees.
After I inspected about many brand stores in the afternoon of March 12th, I was attracted by the window of All Saints. Firstly, the overall decoration style outside the All Saints store is made of retro bare bricks. Secondly, I look through the window. Seeing the inside walls are lined with vintage singers’ sewing machines, these antiques on display represent the fashionable style of the faded appearance of All Saints. The overall decoration when I walk into the store is in favor of industrial style and wooden structure. The music in the store is relaxing.
The style of the All Saints brand is mainly biased to gothic and casual styles. I can see a lot of denim products in the store. The staff at All Saints told me that there is a 25% promotion on all products now, and I think the merchants are currently preparing In the new spring and summer, in order to make the autumn and winter products sell as quickly as possible, they choose discount sales.
In addition, there are many windbreakers and leather coats popular in autumn and winter. I noticed that a Rylee coat in the store khaki and white contrasting colors are the unique style of the new season. The place of origin is made in the UK by warm wool blending and contrasting colors. Contrast color contrast is a popular trend in 18/19. The discount price of a wool coat for All Saints is about 100-200 pounds, the price of jeans is about 70-80 pounds, and the price of cotton T-shirts is 20-40 pounds. The average age of customers in the store is about 27 years old. Most of them are freelancers. Some of them like rock and music. They also go to shops such as TopShop, ASOS, Superdry and so on.

Individual Reflective Blog for the team presentation(112)

Q1

The content presented to the class is related to the use of natural materials, and the relationship between human beings and the nature. I’ve been to V & A Fashion from Nature exhibition, and I think it’s very related to this presentation topic, because that exhibition has some inspirations of the designs come from the nature, such as the shells and other sustainable materials. I would like to explaining in recent years, there are an increasing number of sustainable and natural elements in the design, such as the dress made from recycled plastic bottles. It is believed that the fashion from nature would be critical for the future development of the clothing and fashion industry, and it is also beneficial for the environment as well. Our presentation aims to investigate into the trend, as well as its influences for the future.

Q2.) Describe what your contribution was to the group presentation?

I have made the significant contribution in the delivery of the presentation, since I am the presenter of part of the content in the slides. In the meantime, in the preparation stage of the group presentation, I have actively participated in the team discussion, offering my ideas and thoughts of the information that we should provide to the audience. Besides, when the group tries to find the right wat to present the trends in graphs and visual data, I also did my research and suggest the effective figures and charts, so that the trend can be presented in a clear and straightforward way, and the audience can easily understand.

Q3.) Explain how and where you conducted your research?

The team task is to analyze the trend of the fashion design from nature, from the WGSN trend forecasting site, and then evaluate the influence of the trend on the economy, society and the culture. I have used the WGSN trend forecasting site to collect the basic information of what the trend is, and how it would influence the rest part of the world. I also combined multiple sources, such as the industry reports, the customer surveys, the news articles online and so on, to make the detailed evaluation of how the trend will influence the lives of the people, and how it will cause the economic consequences for the industry.

Q4.) How was your research utilised in the team presentation?

My research has been used in the team presentation, reflected in the part for discussing the ethical issues of fashion from nature. Currently, there are many questions related to the application of the natural materials. For example, the development and manufacturing of the natural materials would be difficult and expensive, and the sustainable materials also need to be tested before they can be used in the clothing.

Q5.) Analyse and explain how you and your team could improve the presentation if you had to complete the task again in the future?

If I had to complete the task again in the future, there are some areas that can be improved. First of all, the design of the slides is not as excellent as we expect, due to the limit of time. If there is sufficient time, I would suggest to use better format in the slides, so that the audience would be attracted to the content. Besides, another improvement is that there should be more data included in the slides, to make the discussion more specific. For instance, it would be better to quantity the economic, social and cultural influences, if the data exists.

Analysing Adidas with pestle mode(blog 2 117)

-Political Factor

China is the second largest market for Adidas in the world. By 2020, the number of Adidas stores in China will reach more than 10,000. Adidas caters to factors unique to the Chinese economy, such as new policies for the development of Chinese football and population growth.  China’s rural and urban areas continue to develop stores.

-Economic Factor

Economic Factor Inflation, per capita income, unemployment and taxation affect its profits ,Must consider the purchasing power of the people ,European business accounts for about 30% of Adidas. Brexit also has an impact on Adidas. First of all, Brexit will cause Adidas to increase tax revenue in the UK market and inevitably increase commodity prices. Rising unemployment will lead to a decline in brand purchasing power.

-Social Factor

Adidas has established partnerships with many famous football stars in the soccer industry to expand the sportswear market as a sponsor, including the establishment of a television market for soccer, and to let the public know that the Olympics is sponsored by Adidas, which is very successful in brand marketing.

In rent years, more and more people who attach importance to health conscious lifestyle increasing, and Adidas uses this philosophy to produce shoes and clothing made from sustainable material and environmentally friendly materials. This is also the impact of the environmental market on Adidas.
